When therapy becomes a reality A situation arises in one’s life that alters our once innocent perspective of our surroundings. Answers are searched through the experience of others when ultimately the truth lies within our own experiences. These two phrases tend to resonate with individuals who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, overall dysregulation within their environment. Each person’s experience is unique as well as the journey to repairing the damage left behind. I believe therapy can be used to create a personable, yet the potentially uncomfortable path to reality and self-truth. Without exposing or facing the wounds, the trauma response can remain to stagnate or continue to spread internally and externally. In which developing the vicious cycle of chaos within, generationally, and/or onto others our surroundings. Therefore, strengthening self-acceptance in exploring our wounds can create wisdom for breaking the cycle(s). Professional Experience Seeking a therapist that fits you can be daunting. I feel in order to fully engage in the therapeutic process, it is important to know who your story is being shared with. I have experience with various populations and my style tends to be direct in nature. The individuals I have had the pleasure of meeting tend to struggle(d) in the following areas: Relationships (family, romantic, & interpersonal) Substance abuse (self or family/loved one) Life transitions (grief, growth, roles, separations, etc.) Intellectual-Developmental disabilities & Autism Caregiver fatigue “Never give up on someone with mental illness. Finding a therapist that you feel truly gets you is crucial to having a meaningful and beneficial therapeutic experience. One of the things I love most about being a therapist is getting to witness people grow into the fullest, most authentic version of themselves. It’s incredibly meaningful to walk alongside someone as they work through challenges, uncover new insights, and build a life that feels more manageable, intentional, and aligned with who they really are. Watching that progress unfold — from the first session to the breakthroughs along the way — is a privilege I never take for granted. In our sessions, you can expect a space that’s centered around you. I always begin by inviting you to share whatever’s been on your mind lately. I find that when we don’t start there, the thoughts or worries closest to the surface can sometimes get in the way of our deeper work. But if you’re not sure what to talk about or nothing specific is coming up that day, that’s totally okay — I’ll guide us back to the goals you’ve set for therapy or revisit what we’ve been working on. My approach is person-centered, which means you get to lead the way and I’ll meet you there with support and structure. When I describe therapy to people in everyday language, I often say it has two layers. The first is what I call the band-aid approach — where I help you build tools and coping strategies that provide immediate relief. Whether you’re managing anxiety, navigating a conflict, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we’ll work on practical ways to feel better right now. From there, we’ll gently dig deeper into the “why” and the “how” — exploring what’s really going on beneath the surface so we can create long-term change. It’s about building a system in your life that helps you respond more effectively to challenges, emotions, or patterns of behavior. I deeply believe that each person’s story is shaped by their unique life experiences, cultural background, family dynamics, relationships, and more. These influences often play a big role in how we view the world and how we respond to stress or conflict. In therapy, I’ll help you make sense of those influences while also working through whatever issues are most present in your life right now. Healing happens when you’re ready for it — not when someone else tells you it’s time.

Welcome! I’m glad you found me. I really enjoy working with college students, and I take a warm, relational approach to therapy. I love to laugh with clients, hear their life stories, and help them process their thoughts and experiences without judgment. As a therapist, some of my specialty areas include anxiety, depression, grief work, self esteem, stress management, life transitions, and identity exploration. In my work, I help people better connect with their thoughts and bodies, discover and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and move towards greater understanding and acceptance. I am committed to creating a safe space for clients of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. If you’re curious about therapy, please reach out. I see clients both virtually and in-person, and I'd love to connect. I completed my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University, and I have additional trainings in trauma-informed care and somatic interventions for anxiety.

I work with college students and adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, academic pressures, relationships, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and supportive approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. Some clients choose to explore EMDR, and I’m trained to use it when it fits, but many find our sessions helpful through conversation, reflection, and practical coping strategies. I aim to create a space where students feel understood and empowered, whether you’re struggling with burnout, uncertainty about the future, or past experiences that continue to affect your life. I accept BCBS of Michigan and BCN and offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make therapy accessible and easy to fit into a busy schedule.

You may feel like you should have everything figured out by now. The truth is, most people don’t. College can bring a lot of pressure, academically, socially, and personally. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lonely, or navigating relationship challenges, or questioning your direction about what comes next. Many students I work with come to therapy because something in their life doesn’t feel quite right. Sometimes that means exploring the stress happening right now, and other times it means getting curious about past experiences or childhood dynamics that may still be shaping patterns in relationships, self-confidence, or how you handle difficult emotions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you better understand yourself while also building practical tools to manage stress and feel steadier. Therapy with me doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly clinical; humor, swearing, and showing up as your real self are all welcome here. My office is located by a GVSU Laker Line bus stop and is about a 10-minute walk. You don’t have to sort everything out on your own. Reach out if you're ready to start getting the support you need!
