Thoughts and emotions can be so powerful, but they can lead us to feeling stuck, lost, confused, dread, or even exhausted. We become so worked up that we might not know how to manage. We tend to isolate, panic, feel unseen, feel unheard, and become irritated because we don’t have the words. Clients will get to meet their present selves by exploring multiple aspects of their lives such as relationships with others and themselves, inner dialogue, communication, anxiety, depression, and more.As a therapist, I aim to create a space where clients have the opportunity to be vulnerable, grow, and feel empowered while working toward their goals and developing new skill sets. I offer a compassionate, creative, and individualized approach that is collaborative and non-judgmental. Together we will develop a deeper understanding of emotions, somatic symptoms, inner dialogue, boundaries, and how we view ourselves in order to improve our quality of life.

To make an appointment or request more information, please call Dr. Londa at 802-785-2434. Email cannot create the kind of personal communication that the work of psychotherapy necessitates. Philosophy The guiding philosophy of my practice is to help people understand themselves in the service of personal development within the context of a safe and reliable relationship with another person. I believe that deep and rich self-examination requires rigorous and systematic pursuit on the part of both therapist and patient as they work together. I place a high value on curiosity, creativity, purposeful aims, tolerance of discomfort, and the strength for meaningful work and satisfying relationships. These cannot be attained in a vacuum, but rather are experienced or learned through the medium of the psychotherapeutic relationship. The internal world of imagination and the life of the mind are brought into balance with social relatedness and external realities. Therapist and patient endeavor to find verbal language to express the patient’s inner experience, feelings, thoughts, and that for which no words have yet been found. The human mind, brain, body and experience are neither separable nor unconnected, but instead form a comprehensive, whole system. Although it is tempting to think of stressors, struggles, problems, issues, events, transitions, and diseases as discrete and unique, I understand symptoms, perceptions, traumas and diagnoses not as circumscribed and distinct entities, but as signposts of underlying, complex unconscious expressions. By recruiting present and/or past events, the unconscious mind disguises itself defensively, in order to remain hidden and unchanged. Together, therapist and patient seek to discover the origins and symbolic meanings of symptoms, their purposes and functions, while accumulating new experiences formed by the proceedings of the psychotherapy process itself. In this way, patients find or re-discover authentic aspects of themselves, integrate or re-integrate shards of themselves that have been unconsciously split off or disconnected, and learn or re-learn how to interact with themselves, others and their environments. The result is the freeing of energy that has been bound up unproductively in the form of painful, unsatisfying, automatic and inhibiting symptoms, so that the energy may be re-directed toward consciously and voluntarily chosen, fulfilling, productive pursuits. If, among the pioneers of modern science, we count Einstein, who forever changed our view of the universe, and Darwin, who forever changed our view of humanity’s place in nature, we must count Freud, who forever changed our view of the human mind, probably the most complex structure in the universe, as the third, and arguably the greatest, of these intellectual heroes. His discovery of psychological defenses against self-knowledge, and his methods of detecting and resolving those defenses, stand among the highest achievements of humankind.

Life often brings us to a crossroads - where old perspectives, ways of feeling and being meet a desire for something new. Self-criticism, pain from past hurt, and fear of the future can create distance from a sense of aliveness, and hold us back from meaningful change. Over time, this may show up as relationship conflict, lack of purpose, feeling confused or numb, anxious, or depressed. Often these patterns are rooted in early relationships or unresolved experiences that shape how we view the world, attach and relate. I see therapy as a process of helping clients reconnect with themselves; rebuilding clarity, self-trust, and agency. Therapy with me is collaborative, authentic, and most importantly - rooted in the safety and trust of relationship. It is important to me to balance authenticity, warmth and humor, with honesty and directness. I offer traditional talk therapy and somatic practices that help you understand, process, and relate to your emotions - and whole self - in new ways.

I have worked as a psychologist at 5 colleges during the course of my career, including serving as a counseling center director for many years. This means that I have a passion and commitment to students who are pursuing their education. Whether you are a traditional age student or non-traditional age student, college brings with it many new experiences and opportunities for personal growth and self discovery which can also be emotionally and interpersonally challenging. I specialize in assisting students with transitions such as changes in family dynamics, romantic relationships, career, adapting to a new environment cultural and other identity issues, educational struggles, stress, grief and loss, and shifts in personal or loved ones’ health. I’m a licensed psychologist and have worked with college-age young adults for many years. I have a youthful energy and I believe in being a good and supportive listener. I utilize evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapy interventions to help young adults create and apply effective action plans in their life. I’m not interested in helping young adults merely admire their problems, is this usually results in remaining stuck. Instead, I work collaboratively to identify promising interventions to move our life forward towards desired goals. This, I find, is the only way for a person to build genuine confidence.

My name is Amy Read and I am an Adult & Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I have specialized my interests in health & wellness after years of struggling with my own symptoms ... symptoms of pain, brain fog, IBS, difficulty with focus, inability to concentration, a very forgetful memory, and so many more. Like so many other suffering I feared the worse, I believed I must have early onset dementia or even cancer. Luckily, I was cleared of anything life threating, but I was told nothing could be done to make me feel better. I realized that I had to find a way to change the outcome, because I was not going to let my life slip by. Because of my personal challenges, I found functional medicine. I found a way to "cure" myself and reclaim my life. It was hard. It took a lot of time. It took work. It took family support. Now I am able to live again and I have many roles and titles, the best of which is being a mother to 6 beautiful children. I love the sun and the beach, if I have a day off that's where you'll find me! The water is mesmerizing and the sun enlightens my soul! I am now a functional medicine practitioner nurse practitioner and bring over 25 years of experience into my practice. Functional medicine has saved my life and become my passion for helping others. My own triumphs and trials with depression, anxiety, ADHD, food sensitivities and fibromyalgia allow me to have a deep understanding of what my clients are going through and what they need to have in order to achieve the life of their dreams. Through my programs, clients who are committed and ready for change, are able to obtain optimal health and wellness.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with five years of experience, my work centers on helping adults navigate anxiety, relationship dynamics, and complex trauma so they can break old cycles, establish healthy boundaries, and reclaim control of their lives. While I have a particular passion for supporting BIPOC individuals and communities, I welcome and celebrate patients of all backgrounds. Anxiety and the weight of difficult relationships can make it hard to see a way forward. Together, we'll work to change that. I believe in the power of collaboration, allowing me to be your active, supportive partner in this process to help you cultivate a stronger sense of peace, self-awareness, and confidence in the life you want to build. Tailoring therapy to the unique individual rather than fitting anyone into a rigid structure is something I feel strongly about, because your healing should reflect who you are, not a one-size-fits-all model. That’s why my approach is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered from the very beginning. You can always expect a warm, empathetic, and genuinely supportive environment in our sessions. Using humanistic and integrative methods, I work to ensure you feel deeply heard and empowered to make lasting changes. Your unique presenting concerns shape how we work together, and I adapt my style with that in mind every step of the way. Every person who walks through my door deserves a space that feels safe and welcoming, a place to pause, reflect, and explore your thoughts and emotions as you navigate life's ups and downs. Having personally navigated anxiety and depression, I understand in a real and meaningful way what it takes to find balance, resilience, and healing. This lived experience fuels the depth of care and compassion I bring to every session. My Jamaican background further enriches the care I offer, allowing me to connect with Caribbean patients and others from diverse cultural backgrounds in ways that are sensitive, affirming, and grounded in an understanding of your unique story. Movement and nourishment are big parts of how I stay grounded. Whether I'm at Pilates, the gym, discovering a new restaurant, or planning the next trip on my list, I'm most at home when I'm exploring and savoring what life has to offer.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to connect! You likely wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t struggling with the pressures of life, and the demands placed upon you from both internal and external sources. I would like to take the time to acknowledge that where you are in your journey to find help is challenging and I am here to make that process as smooth as I am able. The first thing to know about me is that I attempt to live my life in an authentic manner that honors my truth, self-identity, and worldview; while helping others discover what that may look like for them. Some of the roles I fill in my life are husband, father, son, sibling, friend, mentor, and helper. While each of these roles is unique and requires special attention, they each contribute to my passion in life and therapeutic approach. I began my journey to becoming a therapist almost a decade ago, when I realized my previous career in healthcare management was not aligned with my passions and purpose in life. I found myself running businesses for other people who were focused on profits and growth, but lacking a focus on people and connection, which is where my heart finds fulfillment. It was then I decided to change my career path and further my knowledge in the human experience. With the goal of learning how to connect with others in a meaningful way that can lead to growth and healing, I pursued my education and licensure as a clinical mental health counselor. Through a person centered approach, which employs a wide variety of evidence based interventions, I work with my clients to achieve their goals in a way that fits them individually. I believe that every person is unique and can benefit from unconditional acceptance and compassion. By creating this environment of acceptance, we are able to identify areas that you want to change and implement strategies tailored to your experience. I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to help you along your journey. Contact information: jwhitlock@truedirectionmhc.com or Phone: 845-264-2477
