Whole Mentality, PLLC was created to support clients, and the therapists providing support, as safe as possible an experience receiving care. While we would love to say that mental health care means supportive care for all people, the opposite is often reality. Whole Mentality, PLLC strives to serve people from all backgrounds, identities, orientations, ethnicities, abilities, and experiences with the respect and care we all deserve. We exist to create affirming, accessible, healing centered spaces that celebrate and value clientele and their providers. We acknowledge the impact of the people and systems around us, and how we in turn impact others. While we continue to learn and grow in how we can best support each other - we’ve started with being clear on our values, and commitment to serving our community well.

You know the feeling when you step outside following a rain storm? You breathe in fresh air and watch the sun finally appear through the clouds. That is the journey of therapy. Rather than eliminating the storm, therapy explores new perspectives in the midst of life’s challenges.

Working with me means gaining practical coping skills and tools you can start using right away. I rely on my background in psychology to implement cognitive and behavioral changes. I use scientifically supported methods like CBT, DBT, exposure, and mindfulness skills to create real, lasting changes. Our sessions will go beyond exploration and reflection — therapy with me is not 'just talking.' It feels great to vent, but it feels even better to have a path forward. I will gently confront and challenge you when I notice you might be holding yourself back. We all have a tendency to lean into old patterns and unproductive coping skills, especially when it’s all you know. I’m here to hold you accountable and help you grow in a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental way.

As a counselor, my professional identity is one of authenticity, curiosity, and empathy. I care deeply about helping my clients improve their lives. I believe that starts with the two of us forming a genuine connection so that I can best understand your personality, your worldview, and the problems you are facing – the world can be a tough place and we all have times when we could use someone to listen and understand us. I will repeatedly check in with you to assess your goals for therapy and make sure that we are making progress towards meeting those goals. In our sessions, I will use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reduce the types of thinking that can lead to negative emotions. I will also incorporate other techniques such as mindfulness meditation that many clients find useful. Together, we will work as a team to confront the issues that are troubling you. I received my BS in Biology from Duke University and my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I've also been a research assistant in Princeton University's departments of social psychology and neuroscience. I try to stay up to date with current research and use only empirically validated modalities with my clients.

I offer a supportive, judgment-free space where you can slow down, talk things through, and learn to care for yourself while meeting life’s demands. You deserve an authentic therapist that doesn’t rely on gimmicks and mind tricks. We believe in high-quality services (just like you would expect when paying for childcare, dental work, car maintenance, or pizza). We help you through your mental health journey in the way that works for you— because that’s the respect you deserve. Our online counselors in North Carolina are authentic people and know what it’s like to sit in the client’s seat. Using that experience and our knowledge, we provide you with what clients have proclaimed “the best counseling” they have received. Here’s the truth about therapy: you’re what really matters. And that’s exactly why we at C&C Betterworks have decided to put the focus back on you. You often feel like the odd one out. You don’t want to feel that way in therapy, too! With us you do not have to hide anything. With our online counseling in North Carolina, we encourage you to be authentic in therapy, no matter what that looks like. Let’s keep it real. You bring your whole, true self. And we’ll bring our whole, true selves to every session The only thing that matters is that you’re being the real you. No psychology jargon or “how does that make you feel?” here. We speak human, not bullshit. Masking is exhausting. Therapy is the last place that you want to hold it in. Your sessions are a mask-free zone. Autonomy + Accountability = Results Your autonomy is respected- meaning you choose the direction your mental health treatment takes. All people have the ability; sometimes you just need a nudge to get going. We get shit done. Healing takes work, and sometimes it’s tough. That’s why we’re on this journey with you. #cantstopwontstop #sorrynotsorry Book a free 20 minute consultation today: https://cc-betterworks.com

Hello, and welcome to my page! Over the past 15 years, I have worked as a mental health counselor, counselor educator, and supervisor for counselors-in-training. While I specialize in counseling clients with anxiety disorders, I welcome anyone to my practice who is looking to make a positive change in their lives. Making the choice to come to counseling is a big step, and I hope to be a part of the process that leads you towards a happier, healthier life. One of the things that keeps me energized about being a mental health counselor is that every one of the people I see is unique. Everyone has their own experiences, their own way of seeing the world, and their own goals for their future. This has pushed me over the years to get specialized training in a number of therapeutic interventions including: Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Process Therapy, and Transactional Analysis to name a few. I find that being able to pull from a number of therapeutic interventions allows me to meet the unique needs of my clients and to provide the best care possible. My past clients have described me as a combination of supportive, intuitive, and matter-of-fact in my counseling style. I believe that the best relationships (counseling and otherwise) are built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding, and I strive towards this with my clients. I've found that when my clients feel heard, understood, and appreciated, that we can achieve great strides towards whatever they are working towards. The counseling process isn't always easy, but it can be life changing. Let's see what we can achieve together.

My approach is thoughtful, direct, and collaborative. I help clients better understand what is happening beneath the surface while building regulation, resilience, confidence, and clarity under pressure. My clinical practice mainly consists of fellow queer and neurodivergent folx who struggle with complex trauma. Common concerns include self-abandonment through people pleasing, exploring gender/sexual identity, executive dysfunction, immense shame/guilt, perfectionism, identifying community supports, and processing underlying traumatic experiences. My clients often come into session looking to better understand who they are and what really works for them. Many times they feel so detached from themselves and their own bodies that it has been hard to even know what they want from life or who they are. I am EMDR trained and primarily work with clients to map out and process traumatic and other stressful experiences to improve self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. My goal is to help people feel more connected with themselves, their needs, and find approaches that help reduce overall distress and improve relationships. I understand that therapy may be new experience for you or you may have had negative experiences with therapy in the past. Nevertheless, I strive to be mindful of and responsive to the individual needs of my clients. I am open to feedback and happy to adjust approaches as needed. Please feel free to reach out. I would love to work with you!
