Therapists for college students near 02138
Working with young adults and colleges students struggling with anxiety, life transitions, trauma, and relationship challenges is something I've had the privilege to do for more than 15 years. I have expertise working with individuals with anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I received my B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and my Doctorate from Widener University. I have a passion for supporting my clients through challenges and growth in their lives. My approach to therapy is one of collaboration. We will work together to learn how to reduce and manage symptoms in ways that make sense to you given your own unique personal and cultural background. Drawing most heavily from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) our sessions will focus on empirically supported treatments that have been shown to help individuals make tangible and concrete changes in their lives. I utilize a warm, engaging style to help those I work with develop your strengths and gain insight into patterns that are hindering you from achieving your potential in all areas of life. The opportunity to be a part of someone’s journey while they make changes in their life is the ultimate privilege. I invite individuals to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to make sure that we are a good fit and to answer any questions you have about what to expect in treatment. I look forward to taking steps in our work together.
I enjoy working with adults of all ages with any number of concerns or challenges getting in the way of how they wish to live their lives including anxiety, depression, trauma, major life adjustments or transitions, loss, and substance use. My approach to therapy is down to earth and collaborative. I begin by first aligning with you on your goals and supporting with CBT and DBT therapies. I am also experienced in working with individuals who struggle with substance use and/or are working towards recovery. I believe it is important to have a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust. I enjoy partnering with people to build a therapeutic relationship as they work to reduce the barriers to living the life they want. I approach sessions without judgement and tend to be interactive and compassionate in nature. I like to begin with a brief consultation to be sure we both feel we are a good fit - so please feel free to reach out.
Life requires constant adjustment. For many of us, this makes life more challenging. Do you struggle with life adjustments, mood disorders, or anxiety? If so, I am here to help. As your therapist, I will give you a judgment-free environment where I will help you combat your negative thoughts and find a positive way to move in whatever direction life brings. I will empathetically challenge you to come out of your comfort zone and see the world from a new perspective. I will give you the tools to heal, transform, identify, and utilize your strengths to address everyday challenges. Equally, I will provide you with time to make those adjustments, as we all know there can be setbacks along the way, but that doesn’t have to stop us. Together, we will build a stronger community. One of my goals for you is that as I help you become a better version of yourself, you will be equipped to help those around you–creating a ripple effect of world-changing power. Is anxiety or depression preventing you from enjoying your life? Are you feeling overwhelmed by stress or a major transition? Are you unable to move on from an upsetting or traumatic past experience? I help patients change patterns of behavior that are no longer working, and learn new and more effective ways of coping and engaging with life. I believe that the painful crises that usually bring people to therapy often contain opportunities for self understanding and growth that can be discovered and realized in a safe healing relationship. I work with people from diverse backgrounds struggling with a wide range of problems. I have training and experience in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral treatment, and draw on other approaches as needed. I have specialized expertise in the treatment of posttraumatic stress and other problems related to trauma and abuse. I especially enjoy working with young adults because I believe that there are unique opportunities during this time to make changes that can positively impact one's life trajectory.

Kailey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Social Work, both from the University of Connecticut. Kailey is a warm, easygoing therapist who believes that therapy should feel like a safe space—a place where you can show up as yourself, no masks, no judgment, just real, honest conversation. She understands that life can feel overwhelming at times, but with the right support, believes everyone has the ability to grow, heal, and move forward in a way that feels right for them. Kailey’s approach is all about making therapy feel approachable and down-to-earth. She is not here to give you a bunch of jargon or leave you feeling more confused. Instead, she meets you where you’re at, listens to your unique story, and works with you to create meaningful change in a way that fits your life. Her therapeutic areas of focus include interpersonal dynamics, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and women’s issues. She utilizes an integrative, humanistic approach to therapy, including elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, attachment theory and mindfulness. Though Kailey currently resides in Northern Virginia, she was born and raised in Connecticut and is a true New Englander at heart. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing the fife and trumpet, watching UConn sports, and visiting local coffee shops. Kailey is also an advocate for human rights and social justice.

I strive to create a strong, collaborative, and secure therapeutic relationship where you feel truly seen and understood. Together, we explore not just the challenges you’re facing, but also your strengths, values, and goals—both in therapy and in life. Many clients come to me ready to examine and unlearn patterns that no longer serve them. They’re seeking to address anxiety and depressed mood, life transitions, and/or interpersonal dynamics. Often their goals are to strive for meaningful change, greater self-awareness, and the skills to navigate life in a way that aligns with who they truly are. I work with them to develop practical strategies that promote resilience, balance, and a sense of empowerment. My approach to therapy is comprehensive, client-centered, and rooted in social justice, relational mindfulness, and purposeful self-reflection. I value collaboration and ensure that assessment, diagnosis, and treatment are tailored to each person’s unique experience. Above all, I am committed to providing a non-judgmental space where compassion, empathy, and support are met with clear, honest, and practical guidance. My passion is equipping clients with tools they can carry long after therapy ends—helping them shift unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions more effectively, and confidently navigate life’s many demands. The more skills we develop, the more equipped you’ll be to handle future challenges with clarity and confidence.
A client centered approach to therapy starts with ensuring the client and therapist have a strong therapeutic relationship. Not all clients and therapist will be a good match. I work to fully understand my clients lived experience so that I can work with you to achieve your therapeutic goals. I use an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I may use a variety of evidence based approaches to achieve results.
