Therapists for college students near 02138
I truly enjoy working collaboratively with patients seeking help to gain insight, make changes in how they cope with stress and emotions, alter stuck patterns in their lives, and learn new, more effective ways to relate interpersonally. I would love to meet you and see if we can connect to improve whatever has been causing you pain or struggle. You may be dealing with everyday stresses of college life and demands, adjustment to a new college environment, complicated or traumatic family history, or trying to achieve relief or remain stable with significant diagnoses such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, mild to moderate eating disorders, and emotional intensity. I have extensive experience treating survivors of trauma. These experiences can lead to an array of difficulties including PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. I am experienced at working with any of these problems/diagnoses and more. I work with each person individually to identify treatment goals and decide what approach might be the best fit. I tend to integrate treatment models in my thinking and practice, with intensive training completed in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and advanced training in psychodynamic treatment. My style is warm and non-judgmental, sensitive, deeply caring, and very appreciative of humor and creativity- these are incredible human resources. I look forward to meeting you and hope we can forge an important supportive relationship that also provides change and promotes growth in these pivotal years.
I enjoy working with students during this time of transition in their lives. Away from home, students must learn to structure their time to study and embark on a social life. This is a good opportunity to develop self-awareness and discover which relationships are best for them. Most of my clients are creative: writers, musicians, actors, artists, photography, and film. Many are introverts and/or highly sensitive people. I help them embrace their introversion as a gift rather than a liability.
I look forward to working with students who are motivated to feel -- and live -- better, whether from depression, anxiety, attention difficulties or adjustment challenges.

I'm a Boston-based therapist who works with young adults and adolescents. I specialize in treating trauma and all the stuff that comes with it- bad moods, anxiety, explosive anger, poor self-esteem, sadness- you name it. I teach people skills to help them feel better in the moment while guiding them on a path of long-term healing. I'm certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and also trained with the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis. I meet with people both in-person and virtually, and I speak English and Spanish. My approach to therapy is guided by what my clients are looking for and needing most. Therapy can- and should- be tailored to your styles of communication and expression. Maybe this means you'd like a lot of structure in your sessions- using worksheets to track and review anxious thought patterns. It could mean that you'd prefer open-ended sessions to explore deeper themes that've started popping up in your life. Or perhaps you're looking for a safe space to talk about something bad that's happened. I build a safe and productive space for us to work within, whatever the case may be.
I am a licensed educational psychologist and psychotherapist. There are times in life when you may struggle with social-emotional issues that are overwhelming. You may be dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, social stress, relational conflicts, low self-esteem, poor impulse control, trauma, or the challenges of college life. Navigating the myriad of social stressors frequently requires learning new skill sets, which at times may include further development of your Emotional Intelligence (EQ). My goal is to support you as the author of your story and create an approach that fits your unique needs. I focus on helping clients build those inner resources and when possible a network of support that help them weather the challenges in life and promote lasting change. My treatment modality is holistic and integrative. Everyone is unique and as individuals no one therapeutic style may work for everyone. I may incorporate parts of different therapeutic approaches to create a custom fit based on each client's needs.

I am a board-certified Harvard-trained psychiatrist who sees people more frequently than most psychiatrists for weekly therapy or for more complicated medication management like combined ADHD and GAD. I deliberately keep my practice small to devote individualized care to my patients and can be reached after business hours. If we work together, I strive to individualize your treatment to what works best for you. People often describe my style as down-to-earth, grounding, and warm. I have experience with management of mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder) and ADHD. Reach out if you want to work with someone who is personable and non-judgmental, but also willing to provide accountability and humor in order to accomplish your goals. As a psychiatrist, I can help with prescribing medications, therapy, obtaining or reviewing psychiatric diagnoses, or any combination of the above.

I believe therapy is a creative process. I encourage free association in sessions to promote new ways of thinking and a wider range of feelings. I have experience treating mild to severe mental health diagnoses and can adapt my approach to the needs of each individual. As a practicing psychotherapist and a doctoral intern in psychoanalysis, I have a special interest in the unconscious life of my patients. I am available in-person or via Telehealth.
About my practice: I strive to offer clients with a warm and collaborative environment to help them cope with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, academic/job-related stress, chronic health concerns (including navigating complex medical systems), and life transitions. I understand that people are doing the best they can, while simultaneously wanting to change. While I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds, many people who seek me out identify as people of color and/or have inter-racial or trans-national families. In addition, I frequently see clients with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. I help clients consider ways to draw upon existing strengths as they cope with various forms of marginalization. My approach: My style is collaborative, and I integrate multiple approaches, depending on a client's needs and preferences. I draw from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies. I help clients consider their patterns of relating to themselves and others that are leaving them feeling stuck. In addition, I offer clients skills to shift their relationship with distressing thoughts and feelings, so they can better engage in their lives. Fees: About me: After earning a master's degree in Human Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, I completed my doctoral studies at University of Massachusetts Boston. My postdoctoral training at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated psychiatric hospital, focused on exposure therapy for anxiety disorders. We don’t like uncertainty. It is tempting to grasp for the certainty of “everything is doomed” or “everything will be ok.” But a part of us remains unconvinced. It is hard to face the truth: I don’t know what is coming, only that my experience will keep changing and eventually end. There are many aspects of our experience that are hard to face. We aren’t meant to do this alone. I partner with my clients to walk together into this wilderness. I offer a kind, curious, nonjudgmental attention, with the intent of helping my clients to sort through thoughts, judgements, reactions, behaviors, and felt experience, so they can learn to care more skillfully for the parts of their experience that are outside of their control and to take decisive action in the areas of their life where they have agency. Over time, this relational practice builds solidity. It loosens the tight grip on “everything is doomed” or “everything will be ok,” and opens up “it will keep changing, and eventually end, and I trust in my capacity to feel and care for my experience, no matter what comes.”
How may I help you? I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, board-certified, working in Coolidge Corner, Brookline providing psychiatric diagnostic assessment, medication management, and consultation. I offer Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday appointments 7 am-6 pm. I started my career as a school-based-support-team social worker in the South Bronx. I became increasingly interested in a Mind-Body practice and began teaching Yoga, fitness, and Pilates. This journey led me back to school where I earned an MSN and certified as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My goal is to help you to increase joy and diminish suffering. I am a generalist working with adults. My clinical practice is client-centered, based on training, experience, and recommendations set forth by evidence-based care. I treat the symptoms, use medications conservatively. I encourage using workbooks as an adjunct or alternative to medication. Modern life presents many choices and challenges. Genetic and environmental stress, COVID-19 can be overwhelming. I offer my professional expertise to help you navigate through these challenges with awareness, compassion, and mindfulness. My sincere intention is to assist you in improving the quality of your relationships, work, and life. Please let me help.
Therapy can be a powerful space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. My approach focuses on the here and now—helping clients notice how their environment and surroundings impact their stress and emotional well-being. I believe that many challenges we face are shaped by internal and external systems, and I support clients in easing excess self-blame while finding clarity and strength in their responses. I use a strength-based, collaborative approach to help people feel more hopeful, grounded, and empowered in their healing process.
Hello, I’m Ruolin Xie, an outpatient therapist at Orange Door Collaborative. Since earning my Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2016, I have provided psychotherapy and clinical support to individuals and families of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds. My clinical specialties include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), grief and loss, LGBTQ+ concerns, interpersonal and relational challenges, parenting stress, and cultural adjustment issues. In my practice, I strive to create an affirming, empowering, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strength-based, and client-centered therapeutic space. I dedicate myself to bringing both compassionate presence and active collaboration, offering skill-building where appropriate, while actively listening to each person’s unique experiences. My approach integrates neuroscience-informed methods with a holistic mind-body philosophy, allowing for tailored treatment plans that support both effective symptom relief and meaningful, long-term healing. I offer both short-term therapy for immediate needs and longer-term therapy for trauma recovery and self-exploration. I am trained in a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a multilingual clinician, I offer therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. A quote that continues to resonate with me is from Leonard Cohen: “There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.” While I don’t seek to romanticize suffering — pain can be disorienting and deeply isolating—I believe that with skilled support, it is possible to uncover the human resilience, self-authenticity, and fierce self-compassion that emerge through healing. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you explore whether working together feels like the right fit. Please feel free to reach out by phone or email—I'd be honored to support you on your path.
